What was an early sign that a career in Design (or related field) was the career for you?
My grandfather was in facilities management and studied architecture, so I guess I had an early introduction. I joined a school club called Technology Student Association in Middle School and then discovered the T.V. show Trading Spaces. The good, the bad, and the ugly drew me in.
What are three unexpected items on your desk?
My desk is unusually clean right now. Since the pandemic, I’ve been trying to be clutter free. It’s actually working. I’m not sure why I ever kept all those papers before. Usually there’s all kinds of junk.
Name three recent projects you’ve worked on and your role in each one:
Baton Rouge Community College – ACT 360 Acadian Site Renovation – I served as the project manager and coordinated FFE.
Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc Southwest Training Facility – I serve as Project Manager.
Delgado Community College – ACT 360 River City Project – I served as the project manager and coordinated FFE.
Industry Trends you LOVE or HATE:
The industry is trending to lots and lots of webinars. The verdict is still out on if I Love it or Hate it, but it is leaning to hating it.
Dog or Cat?
Morning Person or Night Owl?
Neither, it depends on how the day went or the night before.
Beer, Wine, or Liquor?
How did you make your first dollar?
I think I was a sophomore in High School. Grace and Hebert hired me as a student worker for a summer. I remember running lots and lots of blueprints. I can still smell the ammonia.
First Album you ever bought?
I don’t know that I remember, but I’ll take a guess and say Salt-N-Pepper’s “Push It”. Cassette Tapes were getting to be more popular when I really started buying music.
If you were not an Architect (Other) you would be?
I do not think I’d veer too far off….an interior designer.
Your hidden talent:
I don’t know that I have one. I can move my ears and someone told be that’s not common, so I figure that must be a talent. I need some new hobbies to discover a real talent!
